And even better, sometimes you were there all along.
Sacramento is my hometown, but I didn’t care it for years. But every time I left, it seemed something brought me back. Finally, I left just a little bit, moving across the Sacramento River onto my tiny acre-and-change in the agriculture section of West Sacramento, which is in Yolo County. Yolo is the home of one of the best veterinary schools in the world and some of the most brilliant minds in agricultural science … all at the University of California, Davis, a few miles west of me.
Yolo County is also home to the ideological center of sustainable agriculture in the United States, a title that really could be shared by all of rural Northern California.
And Sacramento is now positioning itself as the “Farm to Fork” Capitol.
I’m happy I stayed. And next year, I’ll be happier because the nation’s best cheesemakers will be visiting:
